Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119: 105
Every year, the Ministry of Lectors and Commentators of the Diocese of Malolos conducts a general assembly for the continuous formation of its new and existing lectors. For two years now, the general assembly are being held per district. Our parish belongs to the Western District which is composed of three vicariates -Malolos, Hagonoy, and Plaridel. Two talks were given by two priests on this assembly, attended by 1,146 lectors held last October 6, 2018 at Guiguinto Municipal Athletic and Cultural Center (GMACC) and I’m sharing snippets of the first talk in this post. Please read the second part on this post.
We all have to mature spiritually. After the district assembly, there was one lingering thought : I may be wrong – I hope I am wrong – but it may be possible that one grow roots in a ministry without really maturing spiritually. That’s a sad and dangerous state to be in so I’m writing this as note to myself. May this serve as a warning.
“Indeed the word of God is living and effective” (Heb 4: 12) Fr. Jojo’s talk was great! It leaves a lot of food for thoughts. I love it when a talk leaves a lasting impression or a mental itch that has to be satisfied, something that makes one uncomfortable. For me, the messaging was fit for those who are beyond entertainment and on the lookout for deeper things.
Here are some quotes from his talk, “Ang Salita ng Diyos Para sa mga Tagapagpahayag ng Salita ng Diyos”. These are in Filipino. Second talk was given by Fr. Anthony Chan and I’ll post about that later this week.
